WHO WE ARE

The MN-ICECI is funded through an Early Childhood Comprehensive Systems Health Integration Prenatal-to-Three cooperative agreement awarded to the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the federal Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The grant started in August 2021 and ends in July 2026.

Timeline

MN-ICECI is driven by an African American Advisory Council that envisions its work continuing beyond July 2026. During the grant period the Advisory Council is focused on creating more accessible, connected, responsive, and equitable early childhood systems in Minnesota for families who are pregnant or parenting African American children 0-3. Early childhood screening, referral, and follow-up within health settings are important components of the work.

The following tenants guide the Council’s work: Advancing equity; maintaining a shared understanding of early childhood health issues and a vision to enhance the existing system; supporting financial and policy changes that enhance the existing system; encouraging health system changes that support equity; and sustaining community driven leadership.
